Over 3,000 fans expressed their love for J-pop superstar Namie Amuro through a full-page ad published in the Asahi Shimbun newspaper Wednesday (Aug. 29).
The ad featured a photo of the retiring songstress in concert against a backdrop packed with the names and nicknames of thousands of fans, with the message “We will continue to love your music” and a heart-shaped “Love Namie Amuro” printed at the top.
The ad project was organized by WIZY, an online platform that connects fans with artists through co-creative and interactive projects. The Amuro ad project was set up by the site itself, calling for fans to order her last live DVD/Blu-ray release Namie Amuro Final Tour 2018: Finally through the platform to receive a place in the newspaper ad to be published on the day of its release.
Fans who ordered the package through the site will also receive a full-color poster of the same design. The photograph used in the ad is from Amuro’s June 3 Tokyo Dome encore performance, and is a WIZY exclusive shot.
The pop icon will perform for the last time Sept. 15 in her native Okinawa, the day before she retires from music.
